Facebook revealed that more than 250m people play games on the social network every month, as it launched a Game Centre for developers.
The Centre will help developers to maximise the impact of their games on Facebook, monetise their titles and manage their development cycle, with a host of tips on these and more subjects. Facebook said it will also introduce a new games section on Timeline as the new Timeline rolls out, which it believes will serve as a discovery and re-engagement channel for games developers.
Among other stats released today, Facebook said that 20% of daily Facebook web users play games on the site; about 200 games on Facebook have more than 1m monthly active users; Facebook drove 263m clicks to the App Store and Google Play from mobile News Feed in February; 55% of top 400 iOS apps are integrated with Facebook; and more than $2bn was paid out to game developers in 2012.
