Cloud-based magazine platform Magzter has agreed a deal with US publishing giant Hearst to carry all of its 21 magazines.
PandoDaily reports that the Hearst deal follows similar agreements with Newsweek and Fast Company, with Magzter claiming 2m US users as well as considerable reach in Asia. Magzter, which offers publishers a 50/50 revenue split and shares all data with them, hosts more than 1,500 magazines from 600 publishers on its platform and has around 7m users in total.
As things stand, around 90% of the titles on Magzter are PDF replicas of the print titles. However, the platform also supports HTML5 and XML and Magzter has high hopes for Mag Fly, a prototype tool that that integrates with Adobe InDesign, allowing publishers to create fully interactive magazines with features such as slideshows.
